UK Trade Union Congress Passes Motion Condemning Israel’s Gaza Campaign
The Trades Union Congress (TUC), which is the umbrella organization of trade unions in the UK with more than 5.3 million members, has passed an unprecedented motion condemning Israel’s military campaign against Gaza and settlers’ violence in the occupied West Bank, calling on the British government to cease all forms of arms sales, military collaboration, and sanctions against Israel. While the British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband banned any imports from illegal Israeli settlements, he dismissed the idea of BDS while the trade unions viewed their vote as a crucial step in ceasing the involvement of the UK economy and army in these matters.
